PAYNE WESLACO MOTORS - WE WOULD LIKE TO SHARE OUR FAMILY BUSINESS HISTORY
The founder of the organization, E. J. Payne, grew up in a Ford Dealership in Southern Illinois. After flying 104 missions in a P47 fighter during WWII, he settled in Weslaco, TX and opened Ed Payne Motors. This was in November of 1949. By the end of that first year, Ed Payne Motors had sold 13 vehicles. As the Texas economy grew over the years, so did the Payne Dealer Group. In 1979, Weslaco Motors, a dealership with a history since 1935, was added to the group. The rest of the group soon followed. Payne Auto Group now features 13 different franchises, GMC, Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, Ford, Mercury, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, and Volkswagen. With Dealerships in Mission, Weslaco, Harlingen and Brownsville we are able to offer our customers a complete inventory of quality pre-owned, certified, and new vehicles.
The Payne Auto Group also contributes to the Rio Grande Valley’s charitable organizations. The Payne Auto Group High School Cash Scholarship is given away at over 28 Valley High Schools each year. Our contribution list continues to grow each year and we make an effort to help as many as possible.
We have over 200 employees and we strive to offer a great working environment and incentives to grow for each employee. The opportunity for success and achievement are very important to us as an organization.
Payne Auto Group is proud of its many accomplishments since its founding in 1949, and of the people who make it a successful, integrity based organization. We attribute our success to the close relationships we build with our customers. You can rest assured we will constantly challenge ourselves to set the highest standards of customer satisfaction available in the automotive industry.
